ParticipantI have an IKEA/WH FCEM6 wall oven, made by Whirlpool.
IKEA model number is 20015086
Whirlpool model number (or service number?) is 854147815010The oven takes a very long time to heat and never seems to quite get to setpoint. I suspect the lower element has failed (all the other elements work, fan works, etc) but I’m not sure where it is, how to get to it or whether it is a difficult job to change (do I need to remove the oven from its wall mounting?).
Would appreciate any advice, schematics, diagrams, etc!
Thanks

Hi mj,
What cooking mode is it not reaching temperature on as, if there’s a lower element, fan element and obviously a grill element, then I’d expect that it was a multi-function oven.
The lower element is only used in certain modes, such as static or fanned upper and lower heat depending on the functions and features of that oven.
Have you checked the elements with a multimeter to see if they are intact once you identify the possible culprit?
That’s where I’d start.
Getting the actual element required is not a problem or at least shouldn’t be.

It’s a psuedo multi-function oven – static upper+lower heating, static upper+lower heating with fan (which we normally use), grill, and a symbol with a fan and what looks like a water drop underneath it (which I guess is just fan but why would I use it?!?).
My first thought was a fan element, but on taking the cover off the fan I discovered there isn’t one – I guess it’s “fan-assisted” rather than a true fan oven.
On searching spares there isn’t a fan element listed for this model number, only the grill/top oven element and the lower element.
The problem is, the lower element is “hidden”. The bottom of the oven is just a flat base, no removeable section, no vents, no sign of a lower element at all. I can’t quite figure out how it works – hence the posting.
I’m guessing I going to have to pull the oven out, but was hoping to avoid that – I have visions of it being a very awkward job.
Any other thoughts?
thanks

It absolutely does have to come out, access to that element is only from the rear.

Any idea if it’s relatively straightforward to access/change once the oven is out, or is it a job for an expert?
Thanks

KeymasterShould be fairly easy, can be awkward but straightforward enough.
