    Hi all
    I have a whirlpool washing machine AWD 3761/5 that keeps coming up with an FP code. this fault is intermitant but annoying, so i changed the pump thinking that would cleat it but it still comes back. the filter is clear.
    Could it be the presure switch or maybe the programer? any advice gratefully recieved

    When it comes up with FP is there still water in the machine or is it empty?

    In that case you need to remove the sump hose and check for lost socks etc. There must be a blockage somewhere. It doesnt have to be completely blocked, just enough to slow the flow down for the machine not to empty in the time allowed. Also check the pump housing for coins where the hoses attach as these are a perfect size to block the flow but can swivel to let it through at other times.

    My money is on the socks…. 🙂

    one other point, it seems to work fine on a 30 min wash cycle, you would think that if there was a blockage the fault would be there on all cycles. any idieas? could it be the programmer?

    Check heater – 30 minute programme runs against time, not wash temperature as the proper wash programmes do. No heat can equal no advance until it times out and stops.

    Should there be a ball in the sump hose, i took the hose off and found a small clear ball about 50 mm diain there ?

    Yes that ball is supposed to be there.
