My washing machine has stoped spinning and is making a grinding noise. It will spin for a short time and then stop all together.

Does the motor on this machine have any brushes. If so how are they removed/replaced.

If not any other ideas would be appreciated

Grinding noise will almost certainly be the drain pump doing its thing. The elctronic board on these machines is notoriously unreliable.

Set the machine to “5”. It should perform a series of tumbles and slightly faster tumbles, with the drain pump running. When the timer advances one “click”, the pump should stop for a while and the machine should do a few tumbles before kicking off into several short spins with the drain pump running, before going into the spin proper.

    Note:
Drive belt with not a lot of tension will stop the machine spinning.
Out of balance load will stop the machine spinning.
Earth leakage on the heater will stop the machine spinning.
Poor/oxidised contacts on the edge connectors on the pcb will stop the machine spinning.
BUT – it’s usually the electronic board that’s the culprit. Part number is printed on the board – 546——–

spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply promptly. Be very sure that that is what you require, as electronic components are not returnable.

Stay safe – power off before handling any components.

    Hi helitubby
I cant give you any more info than Penguin already has… BUT…
you could do me a big favour….
the drive belt snapped on my machine and tore off some cabling, I’ve been trying to find a diagram without success…
Whilst you’ve got your machine apart could you take a quick photo of the back of the drum and email it to me: bernie@tifosi.net
You could be saving me money… 😆

    Penguin. Thanks for info.
Set to ‘5’ and worked as normal for main part of cycle.
Pump noise started near to end of 1st cycle, machine kept spinning and drained.
Clicked onto ‘B’ cycle and filled again. Is still working at moment. Will PCB you mentioned still rectify problem.

Qman I will send photo when I have back off machine.
