I can switch on the dishwasher, and select any programme, and a second or so after the door is closed, the main house ELCB trips. There are no error lights (no time!). Nothing else trips the breaker.

I have replaced the main circuit board, checked the resistance of the heater element and everything else I can think of and everything seems fine.

The machine will start and complete a cycle very, very occasionally, but is obviously not useable.

Machine is about 15 months old (typical!) and has work perfectly up til now.

    Any ideas gratefully received.

The heater is the prime suspect – you need to check it for earth leakage. Possible that wiring has chaffed in the loom at the door pivot point, but that is quite unusual these days.

Power off before working on it, please.

Thanks Mr Penguin, I’ll try and have another look this weekend – puppy permitting! At least I now have an idea of where to concentrate my searches.
