Anyone out there ever changed drum bearings on a Smeg washer dryer model UKST121s. I have the prices of the bearings etc but would like to know what sort of job it is, with regard to drum spider damage etc. as I need to price the job realisticly.
Its the one that blows dryer air through the back of the drum.

    SMEG BEARINGS

Sounds the same as the Whirlpool AWG329 W/D which is made by Smeg.
If any of my engineers come across this problem they normally go on holiday. 😈
Seriously though I have one in the workshop which I use for training purposes and it is not too bad to dismantle the spider and rebuild. The problem comes when the drum shaft has gone, if it has the drum has to come out the front of the machine and will take a couple of hours all in to do. I would also imagine that the parts will be quite expensive.

Thanks for that John, yes it is the same as the whirplool (and Creda and Neff and probably loads more too) The parts are surprisingly cheap, as are most Smeg parts I find, and a replacement machine is £700 odd so it looks a though we will have to repair it.

    Smeg bearings

The reason I ask about the price of the spares is that to buy a bearing kit from Whirlpool for this machine would cost £112 +vat retail which is well over the top and the drum only costs £54+vat. I think someone in Italy thinks of a price, doubles it and adds VAT.

These bearings would be a good contender for a new thread called “What is the most ridiculous price you’ve been quoted for a spare part”

The price from SMEG are as follows:
    bearing 11.31
    Bearing 11.75
    Seal 27.80
    gasket 7.34
these are retail prices and we get 45{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off this.

Interestingly, the Creda?hotpoint version lists only one dual race bearing at £16.50

I have a contender for the most stupid priced part. Servis cooker fan oven elements £75.97 Trade before vat! (from GB dar that is)
