ParticipantHi. We are looking for a new machine to replace our 10 year old Bosch, which has never needed fixing and is still going strong, but is being included with the fixtures and fittings when we sell our flat.
There are just two of us, so the machine will be lightly used – say 3-4 loads per week on average. The clothes are dried on a clothes horse, either indoors or on a balcony. My girlfriend has a lot of clothes marked hand-wash and delicate, so we regularly use the cold, hand wash and woolens programs on our current machine. We also successfully wash a fair few things that are marked as “dry clean only” with these programs (I’m sure that clothes manufacturers mark some things as dry-clean only just as an easy cop-out). The new machine will need to fit in a cupboard designed for a 60cmx60cm machine, on a concrete floor. We are looking to spend up to £500ish.
Any advice or suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi kilburn
When you say “cupboard” are you referring to between two base units as a freestanding machine or between two base units with a wooden door on the front of the appliance known as an integrated machine? If it`s the latter then there are two more choices ie semi integrated where you would see the controls or fully integrated where the controls are hidden behind the door.

Hi Don.
It’s a cloakroom cupboard in the hallway, about 70cmx70cm square with plumbing for a washing machine, so I’m looking for a freestanding machine.

Hi kilburn
In that case I would go for either a Bosch again like the WAE24364 or it`s 1400 spin partner the WAE28364. You could consider the Loggixx and the Exxcell machines which are the next ranges up, however the price also goes up at the same time. All ranges come with the usual 2 year warranty.
Another alternative is the ISE range of appliances. The ISE AW23 with a two year warranty £449.99 delivered and installed
is comparable with the Bosch or for a slightly higher price the ISE AW23 with a full five year warranty £519.99 delivered and installed
Where this brand scores is that everything is carried out at a local level, should an engineer be required it`s only a local call away.
