ParticipantThe last time I tried to order a 9500 series Hotpoint timer knob I found it was obsolete so I was expecting the same story with the 9546 I went to today. This machine is one I sold to some friends about 6 years ago and is still going strong, now installed in a hostel they recently built. I have a stack of old brown knobs but I didn’t have the right one this time. Looking carefully at the knobs I realised they are made in 2 parts and glued together. I then experimented with one of the wrong knobs to see if I could remove the outer rim and central bar to leave the core section intact. I then made a series of hacksaw cuts on the damaged core section of the original knob and again nibbled bits off with pliers until only the outer section remained. I can now superglue the two parts together to make a complete knob. 8) It turns out they still list this one, Part No. C00197607 but only as a special order and at a silly price, £18 to £19 + VAT.

Great minds think alike. Done same several times. Only yesterday, used inner from washer knob on t/dryer knob. Only difference between washer and dryer is dryer uses springy bit of metal on clip whereas washer uses solid bit of metal.
Often repaired broken knobs in the past by drilling small holes and tying bits together with cable ties. Works on door frames too. Even repaired broken hinge once by threading thin wire through holes drilled strategically and twisting ends together.
Stuff learned in the days before the internet and only weekly spares delivery.

KNB15, for early 9500 series with wash numbers 1 to 7 still available from Qualtex as is KNB 34 knob (£2.22 ex vat) for later wash symbol type knob such as a 9546 😉
KNB16 was for the 9 programme series, not sure if that is still available, not used one for a while.
KNB14 for early W/Dryers.
That said I have repaired the odd one by joining two together in the past.
Jim.

I came accross once a Hotpoint 95 with the pecker mech on top of the belt attached too the motor once.
Someone had cable tied around 15 ties from the counterweight accross to the mechanism arm instead of replacing the arm itself. :rolls:
That m/c also had a the white dial fitted onto the Brown facia.
The women stated she didn`t used the regular guy now as he`d retired.
