This is something I have recently researched after my own PS3 broke. I learned how to ‘re-flow’ a PCB, about thermal paste and how a PS3 is put together. Sony offer a service of £100 for repair (they say some faults cant be repaired – handy for aquiring a few extra recon Blue Ray drives i say…) with a 90 day Guarantee.
My repaired PS3 has now lasted longer than 90 days…
Any one else had any sucsess with repairing PS3’s.
I am almost certain that lots of them will fail in the coming year or two with the same fault. Mine was only 16 months old when it broke

i’ve repaired a few ps3 now but do more xbox 360 buy the faulty of ebay for £10 quick simply repair and resell for £100 best to repair is the ones with fault ring of death.. Got do something while it quite still got bills to pay..

Yes indeed. I mention this service to every customer I visit now, almost every one has a son or a grandson that owns a console. money is money, work is work in my book.

Been repairing playstations,ps3’s laptops desktop pc’s, building them, repairing them, all kinds of things, lamn mowers, power washers,… few yr ago i went to a little old dear to put a new lid on her spinner, situated in a really dangerous lean too on side of house, fixed her spinner….after some discussing the lean too, ended up building her a new one of those too at 1,500 profit.
I never ever advertise anything other than domestic appliances as it in my book gets u a jack of all trades label and that i do not want!
But all the stuff i do aside of white goods is mainly friends stuff or from word of mouth, but i would never advertise.

Has anyone else had much joy in the repair of the yellow light of death??
Mine has just gone and if I get some free time this week i’ll get to action with my heat gun!!Dave
