Just to put the record straight, several of us have beeen highly influencial in the distribution of the postcodes over the whole of the UK.MFI had inplace their own agents (mainly in the south) and of course in some areas, their own engineers. There will always be winners and losers in this process but I believe our industry wins if we are involved at this level, and I hold out hope that we will be involved again when gas/refrigeration comes around. The final decision as to who gets what has not been ours(or mine) but rest assured our efforts are appreciated …………

Yes this is extremely encouraging and hopefully the shape of things to come and with other contracts other people can get a shout at some work. I was just impressed at the response to it all, it really has been good overall.

The thing is that MFI had this done literally within days, which is seriously impressive to set up a network of agents to cover almost the entire UK mainland and, if MFI are impressed word will soon get about what has been achieved and the potential can only increase for more work IMHO.

As both Dave and I know, this site is being watched by some serious players now and I do believe that we are being taken seriously by some big hitters. That being the case things can only improve for us through time.

I think as Ken mentioned in another post, one of the reasons we are not offered direct work, especially by MFI and the like is because of the Coverplan contract and NESN.

I spoke to tony Brown of MFI recently (before this recent work offer) who told me we have no chance of working direct while we are an NESN member due to contractual restrictions, and he shouldn’t even be talking to me, f*kin stoopid.

D&G offered work, but as the Coverplan contract is high volume, they were concerned that they would be given ‘second best’ service 😕

All in all I would love to dump NESN, but I would need to replace it with something quickly.

I know we are one of very few who actually profit from Coverplan as we are in a privelidged position of having high volumes of spares as we retail and wholesale them to local one man bands, it’s the only way to make it pay, 1st time hits.

    Dave,

Why don’t you try D&G etc. and explain that you are trying to move away from NESN as they’re not really doing you any favours or tell them that you have another engineer now, something, anything! As if they do go titsup you could well get caught in the crossfire and the general consensus seems to be that NESN are living on borrowed time.
