    Hi,

Our old fridge is starting to give problems now.
The first sign was loud noise when the compressor stops.
apearently the compresor is loose in the housing, but further all seems fine.

last year summer the freezing compartment could not keep up anymore.
    lowest temperature around-1C.
    cooling is still OK.
This resulted in continious running of the compressor.

opened up the whole unit and connected the compressor to 220V outside of the control PCB to check the freon system.

The evaporators are getting cold and icy. but I was not impressed by the speed. It looks like the fridge and freezer are in series.
Are there any sugestions on the forum?

First of all, what are you thinking putting mains voltage directly onto the compressor like that? Do you have a death wish or something? There is, believe it or not, a reason that there are fuses and safety devices, most of which are an attempt to stop people from being killed and earning a Darwin Award!

NO appliance engineer is stupid enough to by-pass all safety protocols to do such a thing and, if they were, they’d deserve the flash of realising their stupidity that they get.

It sounds like a weak compressor and that is not a DIY repair by any stretch.

Cold and icy doesn’t mean operating correctly.

    K.
