ParticipantModel ZWF12070S has coin or something stuck down the front of the tub. I took the heater out and you can see plastic swarf where the object has rubbed the front of the tub but the object is trapped against the outer edge seam of the drum. Has anyone had success at removing things stuck like this?
I did try leaning the machine forward and spinning the drum by hand but it did not achieve anything. I did wonder about removing the door, laying the machine down on its front on cushions and trying the same idea of spinning the drum. There were no adults in the house so I was loathe to ask the 2 teenage children there for things like cushions.July 21, 2009 at 11:45 am #292752leavemetogetonwithit

There was discussion of this years ago before the welded tubs were around. Things have always been getting stuck like that in Zanussi drums. I had some success with a bit of wire – the green coated stuff would be good. The best way I remember from the discussion might be using a bit of p/sw hose fed into gap, turning drum 180 degrees and waiting for object to fall out.

had a few screws and the like stuck down front
remove boot pick a part of the tub between paddles and insert a big screwdriver to push tubfront out of the way. you just need to move it far enough to look down insdide with torch and find stuck item
then get old wire coathanger and bend to make hooks to get part out
gets a bit tricky but machine is scrap if you donttub may be a little mis shaped when you are done but you can pull it back in place as long as you dont strain it too much
hope this helps

Did the very same job yesterday phidom, 1 inch screw was trapped in the usual position at the front of the drum. Used an old short tyre lever 😯 to open up a gap ‘tween the two drums, screw then fell down into the bottom of the tub.
Removed the heater & fished it out with an old coat hanger 😉July 21, 2009 at 6:48 pm #292755Alanj

Hi Phil,
if the foreign object is magnetic, a large magnet (like the large circular one out of a tv ) inside the drum and turn slowly till magnet is at 12 o’clock then release magnet and catch stuck item.Alan

Take a trip to your local pound shop they will probably have long flexible grabs and also long flexible doofers with magnets on the end. They aren’t exactly quality tools but they are great for retrieving screws etc. that make a bid for freedom and roll out of reach.

Got a stone out from front of one of these last week using a tip I read on this forum some time ago which is rig up a piece of pressure hose into a larger pipe that will attatch to a vacuum cleaner.
You need to experiment to get the greatest amount of suction with varios size pipes etc but once you get it right it works a treat and you can keep the ‘suction kit’ for future jobs.
You just need to lever the drum slightly, I use a ring spanner because the offset gives just the right amount of drum movement without any damage,
The only snag is it can look a little to easy when you come to charge your £50 or whatever if you only take a couple of minutes to vacuum out an obstruction. -
