I don’t think it’s so much Connect haters as, annoyed at Connect pricing. But, there’s always going to be the odd discrepancies between suppliers, it’s where they are consistently more expensive there’s a reason to grumble or simply use other suppliers if you’re not happy.
One example doesn’t, IMO, make Masterpart the Spawn Of Satan given that they are, generally speaking, consistently cheaper than many. 😉
I’m also quite sure (in fact I know) if you go looking you’ll find other parts that MP are more expensive than CDSL on. The converse is also true. And, you’ll find Maddocks beat both on some and are more expensive on other parts.
Like I keep saying, you gotta shop about and £23 is way more than any additional carriage charge too.

all well and good but its £81.11 difference
masterpart are selling it above retailJuly 22, 2009 at 7:07 pm #292845kwatt
KeymasterNot for me it’s not, there’s only a £20.23 difference in the ex VAT price.
The last pukka SRP I have from Smeg is £150.44 from 2006 which excludes VAT and carriage. I would have expected an increase since then although, up till late last year the prices seemed unchanged but I haven’t checked them.
That being correct now, they’re BOTH above retail.
You’ll probably find CDSL are buying direct from Smeg Italy and MP are buying from Smeg UK or something like that and, on top of that, it will depend what discount rate you are on as usual.
In any event, the point is, shop around if you want the best price. 😉
