ParticipantGot a call for one of these for the first time as most around here are CTD oo’s, have to look at it tomorrow.
Customer says it switches on and after about a few minutes it shuts off and says empty the water tray which is empty, any ideas before i call?

Sticking float switch or gunged up water container under pump a possibility.
I have sent you some ‘stuff’. 😉

Check the door switch and if it is prior to serial number 603 then the small striker pin that operates the switch. If the door switch is intermittent then the machine stops and empty water light comes on as a reminder to the customer. 🙂

Thanks for all the replies lads. Went to it this morning and found the tray where the pump sits full of fluff, cleaned it out and it now pumps the water up to the top 😆 , is it normal for the rollers on the front to be noisy on these machines, it’s making a fair racket :rolls:

The early ones had rollers, totally useless and noisy. They reverted back to the old style front bearing pads that had been OK for the past 20 years. :rolls:
It is possible to remove the pulley wheels and fit some bearing pads , there are slots in the front surround to fit them in.
Failure to keep the condensor clean is the main cause of all the gunge in the float chamber.Jim.

Would you believe i got a call to a CTD 00 with the same symptoms today. Empty light on. This machine was built around May 2007. The pump for some reason isn’t pumping up the water even though it’s “working”. Looking at it when working you can see it’s not stable and vibrating. It seems to be a different pump from the earlier ones, are these giving problems? To me it looks like a cheaper pump.

Oh this was a case the customer sticks the head in :rolls: , when i took the pump out he cleaned and dried out the fluff and water and probably threw away the rubber impeller, even so does it mean a new pump anyway if it comes off?
