    Hi,
I can see that I’m not the only person to have problems with this FF! Mine is about 8 years old and has been excellent until now.

FF suddenly started making lots of noise – established that fan was iced up. Removed the ice and replaced panel. Solved the noice problem but ever since the temp readings for the freezer have shown inaccurate readings. Freezer compartment currently showing 0 degrees C although a temp prob realistically indicates that it is below -30C. Refridgerator is fine.
Suspect that freezer thermostat is not kicking in and freezer motor is permanently on.
Any ideas on fault and suggestions for repair please.
    Many thanks,
    John

Re: Hotpoint Mistral FF71 Faulty Readings

    Hi John,

They’re all great until they don’t work. 😉

The standard Mistral answer for that range is, change the thermistors and, if that doesn’t work it’s the PCB or a new one as a general rule.

The thermistors you’ll probably need are this one and ]this one

The thermistors are worth a punt as they’re not that expensive, the electronic control PCB a little more worthy of consideration given the age of it. However, do be advised, that failures of these are very, very common and they have been known to fail again within a year or two of being replaced and I don’t know what’s causing that. This doesn’t happen all the time, but it isn’t uncommon for people to be back for another set in a couple of years.
