Decided to get a new Dyson as the old DC04 had given 7 years of top performance and the dyson DC05 that was used upstairs some how became the property of my son and his girlfriend :rolls: Anyway £235 later (£60 off in the sale) and all I can say is WOW. It is so much better than the old one. I’m surprised there is any pattern left on the carpet it is so powerful, the ball took a bit of getting used to but it defiantly makes the job much easier. With it being the animal it comes with a mini turbine brush for stairs and upholstery, even this is better than the old model I used with the DC04. The only thing I have found that is a bit of a pain it the electric lead. Its much thicker than the old one and quite stiff, it’s also shorter, not a real problem for me but a couple of extra meters would have made it more adaptable and there is room for it so I suspect the accountants had something to do with this.

I give it 9 out of 10. The 5-year warranty is also good to have.

Dysons have been plagued with mains cable failures for years so presumably the thicker cable is meant to address the issue.

The DC01’s were a terror for cable breakages near the entry point, so thickening the cable, a damn good idea. Was using a DC01 when the cable broke and sparks shot out and burnt the vac! 😥
