ParticipantHi,
this 18 year old, timer is sticking just after filling for the first rinse, click it on one and it completes the programme. My suspicion is the timer itself but would value a second opinion or a wiring diagram.
thanks

Probably dont help you much but i had exactly the same thing a few weeks ago. Would fill for rinse and stop. Checked all stats and everything and concluded timer. Customer did not go for it because of price so never new for sure.

Rob the timer’s are built like brick outhouses so that ain’t the prob there mate. 😉
I would take a good shuffty at the water inlet/sump hose for blockages TBH….Got to dash right now but tomorrow I can talk you through this if you like?…Trust me….8)
BYE!!!

That’s what I thought Martin but as it works on the whole programme except for this click was a bit lost so would welcome your help.
Let me know what to do 😳

Hi, Rob!!
The fill metering system on these is pretty straightforward. Left hand side panel off to see.
The machine will fill into the matrix until it is full enough to syphon over. The syphoning water is directed down over a pivoted swinging ‘bucket’ that tips upwards and switches the valve off by means of a microswitch. This switch also puts power to the timer motor which will advance the timer while the matrix is syphoning down. When the matrix is empty, the ‘bucket’ will swing back to its original position. This switches the valve on to fill and the timer motor off. This will happen 3 times before the timer motor has moved the timer on enough for the machine to switch the wash motor in and the valve off. The machine is then full and should work normally.Common faults:-
1) Black rubber hose at the bottom of the matrix is partially blocked which restricts the water flowing into the sump. The pressure will overfill into a separate chamber and hydraulically lock the valve off. Easy to spot as the valve will buzz but won’t fill. Remove the hose, clean and refit. Part number 118994 is a new one as they sometimes rot. Take the pressure (clear plastic) hose off the valve to reset the safety shut off. Tap the valve to release it and refit the little hose.
2) The door wires are broken at the hinge. Look carefully at the loom going through the door hinge. A split wire here can make and break connection and give spurious faults.
3) Timer is faulty. Least likely of the three. 088369 is the part number and EMW repair them as they are also fitted to the Hotpoint variant of this range of machines.
My money’s on faulty door wiring. 😉
HTH,
Steve.

Hi Martin and Steve,
Went back today and found the black hose a bit crudded but only just enough to cause the water to leak out of the hole in the anti-flood valve tube although it wasn’t shutting off, cleared it and “voila” works ok, so thanks lads.
Funny though, if I put my finger over the hole it worked ok.
Sold them some d/w degreaser and everyones’s happy.
Blimey, do I owe a few pints lately.

I think this is a similar model to what was supplied to Hotpoint years ago, and we had trouble with the shaft on the timer drive motor “moving” along it’s length and causing the brass gear to miss the rest of the gears in the gearbox.
Unclip the timer motor the timer take it off and inspect the cog on the motor , if it is “proud” of the motor then give it a little pressure and push it back into position, there should be very little gap 😉 -
