I’ve pretty much stopped doing dishwashers over the last few years, since they introduced those wretched plastic base mouldings. I was at a customers house today working on the built in microwave and they asked me about this Electrolux which overheated during the drying stage. The stainless interior has tempered to a straw colour and they say at the time they switched it off due to burning smells. There seem to be a couple of thermostats in the base which I think might be likely suspects. I suppose I could remove them and test each one in a pan of hot water. How easy are they to get at? It might be as well to get them to try a prewash or something first in case any plastic parts have melted and will cause leaks.

I’m now wondering if the problem is with the impulse drying system. Apparently the heater is only meant to be switched on for brief periods, 30 or 45 seconds at a time. Perhaps the switch contacts in the timer for this have welded together and it’s staying heating for the full 10 to 11 minute drying cycle? I should have bought one of them plug in power monitor devices. :rolls: I can test it with the multimeter on the heater connections though.
