put round motor 1st get as far round pulley as you can then turn pulley to force on, ive heard of people using cable ties to hold onto pulley but i can usually manage without, its by no means easy but does go eventually.

Worth wearing a decent fitting leather gloves in case of slippage 😯 amazingly tight these belts,it’s a wonder it doesn’t crack the pulley.

Large plastic cable tie is the ‘official’ Hotpoint way. Takes seconds and saves scraping your knuckles.
Lash the belt to the drum pulley with the cable tie from the top of machine, slip belt over motor pulley, turn drum to force belt over motor pulley, give it a swift turn to snap the cable tie, job done.

I always carry a bag of large plastic bag ties with me, our local B&Q stock them in all sizes including the small ones for wiring harness etc.

They must stretch a lot as the difficulty is usually only with new belts, putting the old one back is not too bad. I’ve only twice had to resort to the cable tie method.

Seriously, it is an absolute doddle with the cable tie method, once you have tried it I guarantee you will be converted and never struggle with one again, I use the cable tie every time, even with old belts, it really is seconds of a job.

a point worth remembering is that screw tub take a 1603287 belt while the welded tub takes a 1605481, I remember since I went out without checking first with the wrong belt.

defo the cable tie method makes the job so easy personally its the full kevlar sleeves and gloves job as i have seen some horrific injuries from hands slipping i thinks its hotpoints way of cutting the workforce lol 😆
