We’ve had our Whirlpool for about 6 years now…its had a bearing going for a while (a whiny kinda noise). Well today something went klunk and bang and now when the drum goes round its making a scrapping sound rather than the bearing (I can only assume that is what it was from previous experience)……is it fixable???

Its a condenser dryer….the alternative is to buy a new one. Have my eye on a new Siemens with the 5 year warranty…..but its a few bob..

    Any help greatly appreciated 🙂

There are no bearings in an AWZ650 – the drum runs on four support wheels, two at the front and two at the back. In theory, these can become noisy and “rumbly”, but it’s more likely that the drum itself has started to break up.

Power off if you intend to solve this yourself.

Is it an expensive fix? And is it a complicated job?
