ParticipantHelp please…..
Our dryer has stopped working…it still revolves but produces no heat.
I have ordered the replacement set of rear thermostats from the shop@.
and got a box – part no 66-hp-03.
These dont look like the parts I’m replacing…. anyway to get the dryer working I’ve taken out the old stats to insert the new ones & like an idiot I forgot to note which set of wires the green dot stat is attached to.
Can anyone tell me if it should attach to the blue & brown wires – or the orange and orange/blue combi spade connection?
I’ve attached it to the blue/brown set, tried the machine & it still produced not heat… could i have ruined them by doing this?
PS have I ordered the right part?
Thanks in advance of help…Mrs W is sitting next to the dryer waiting to load it up so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
David

i think its orange and orange blue to the left stat i dont think the wires are long enough to put them on the wrong way.
i am however breaking forum rules by tellig you .
plug out first.August 18, 2009 at 7:09 pm #294949iadom

THIS is the correct part.
You did actually check the old stats for continuity first before you ordered the new ones didn’t you?

Thanks for your replies.. – yes that it the part number I ordered & its referenced on the invoice as 1701583 – however the parts in the box look nothing like the picture. The stat I have been sent has a reference number on the top of KSD301A.
I’ve taken a picture of the box & parts I’ve been sent – but cant see how to insert them into this message.
If someone could tell me how to then I coudl show what I have been sent.
The only other question then is whether the green spot stat is inserted on the left or the right….i’m happy that i know which wires go to which side its just which stat goes to which side…
Thanks

Ah, but you didn’t answer this one. 😉

true…..
so, yes i did check & one stat shows a zero Ohm reading & one stat shows infinity….i am making a presumption that either an infinite or a zero reading indicates one is faulty…
I cant remove the other stat from the top front of the drum so havnt been able to test that in isolation.August 18, 2009 at 9:58 pm #294955iadom

You need to check the new stats then, depending on which type you have it is possible to damage the green spot TOC (safety cut out) if you accidentally press the base in. It is a ‘one shot’ device and will not reset.
Some types of stat have a solid base, on the other type the base should not be concave.

the original stats – (which were bought as replacements on here from shop@) do have the concave one shot cut outs. The new stats ( which are nothing like the originals) have solid bases.
I’m still thinking I’ve been sent the wrong parts…
Any suggestions on how to post a picture in a message on here?

Use a hosting site. I use Photobucket.com – uploading is pretty intuitive if you follow their instructions.
Immediately, both discs on the front of the stats should be bowed outwards, ie convex to allow continuity through them.

Thanks – Penguin.
So, to recap, the old stats have the convex shape – the new stats are solid with no convex shape at all.
Could this mean I have been sent an incorrect part?
Thanks

No, they are a perfectly good alternative, in fact they are more robust than the OEM ones as you cannot push the base in and damage them accidentally. I use them as often as the other type TBH.
Just pop your meter on them to test for continuity.

I forgot to say thanks for the advice. The dryer is working fine now.
