Except that the door locks! Other than that there’s nothing, zilch, nada.
Things I’ve tried are:
1. megger whole machine from plug reading around several hundred Mohm don’t remember exactly.
2. change door lock -> door then refuses to lock 😕 and still nothing.
3. dismantle old lock to check for internal short – was a bit brown and some sign of rust on springy bits but did not look too bad.
4. extract and examine minutely both main and fascia boards. No sign of any damage whatsoever.
5. disconnect motor, heater, drain pump, circulation pump. Still no joy.
6. Was going to dismantle selector switch but connectors were so tight I gave up and just tried a live test with a non contact screwdriver tester. This suggested that selector switch was probably functioning. I’m still suspicious of that though.
One other clue. Customer reported that before going dead the machine had suffered a no drain fault. He had cleared the filter and then when he tried to start it again all was dead.
Anyone got any suggestions other than fork out loads of dosh on one or more boards which may end up taken into stock. No, I’m not going there.

Check the pump isnt o/c have had this before..1 st thing they usually do on any programme is pump…i would be looking there 1st!

Sounds like a possible. Don’t worry, I’ll certainly let you know if you’re right. (Unless customer decides he’ll let Currys have it before I get back there :rolls: ). Won’t be going back till end of next week though.

Hi Mike,
Had this on Zanussi’s wee sister Tricity Bendix, machine went dead, ended up it was a failed pump.Just last week, same on a built in Beko D/W machine went dead, due to water left in machine decided to look at pump first, found tooth pick once removed off the machine went.

It’s strange. I woke up this morning with a clear memory of a similar situation on a Zanussi about ten years ago an FJ model or some such. And it was then an o/c pump discovered after much head scratching over a dead machine. And the weirdest thing of all is that it was that customer who recommended me to this one! (cue twilight zone music)

Slight setback to open circuit pump theory. Went to exact same model with totally different fault today and after effecting a temporary repair by disconnecting dryer element, I unplugged the drain pump to see what effect it had. Sadly, display remained as bright and cheerful as ever. 😥 . Whilst this is not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} proof against, it does call the theory into question. I’m seriously thinking about selector switch now but it seems to be obsolete 😯 . Any more ideas, anyone?

Well, looks like it must be board (= probably BER). I tested everything for correct readings and all was Ok and no low insulation either. I also dismantled the 24 pole main switch and it looks perfect. Another thing I tried was unplugging the blue loom from fascia thus disconnecting it from main board. I thought it might light up and give me an E90 but no luck.
Boards are less than I’d thought 69/42 trade but still don’t fancy that risk. The customer is not too pressed so I’m casting around for a s/h module to try in. If I found one from a similar model could I reconfigure it?
