ParticipantHi All,
Have been using these forums for a little while to self-diagnose my MW511 that is increasingly playing up.
At the start of this year it would stop intermittently. Then the machine started failing on the 2nd full cycle (i.e. it would complete a full cycle on the 1st attempt no problems (no error codes) and then on the 2nd load of washing it would stop in between modes (between spin and wash for e.g.)). Later did the test code diagnosis and received (R-L) – 00011111
I have also seen (but not noted) that on the 2nd cycle, when it would time out from inactivity, that it would bring up different error codes depending on where in the cycle it stopped.
I looked that up and found it wasn’t good news – but also found that some of the problems I was having in between the cycles I could fix by switching the machine off and on quickly (1 – 2 seconds) and it would resume. In following through the previous information, and also my wife calling out a washing machine technician, they/it deduced it was the rotor positioning sensor – of which has now been replaced… and it’s actually made the problem worse.
The 1st load of washing now doesn’t complete by itself (I was getting by on switching off the power and leaving it for 2 hours and then coming back to it) and now I have to do it all the time to get the machine going. But like I said to my wife – would rather fork out $70 to see if it fixes it… as opposed to $700 for the new washer she wants.
I have also been wondering if it’s anything to do with any of the connections between the various boards as the previous house was a damp environment (and with a dryer in the same room as well) and whether this is causing the problems.
Any help would be appreciated… although it’s now looking a little terminal.

and just as I finished typing this, the machine stopped after the 2nd rinse cycle (just before the final spin) to reveal the 00011100 code.

It’s a “sequencing error” between the display board and the motor controller. If unplugging the machine and leaving it for a while doesn’t clear it, you are advised to turn off the “auto re-start” feature on the machine. This means that it will stop when it actually faults rather than trying to carry on through the cycle – it should throw up a new code.
