Hiya – i would be grateful for some advice – does anyone know if the Bosch WAA28165 has a sealed drum? I read on your site that some of the cheaper Bosch machines have this problem… but have no idea where to find out … there is nothng on the BOSCH website…

    with many thanks!

Hi LizzyB . Yes , this model is a sealed drum unit IF it’s a WAA28165GB model .

There are other models which end in NN as opposed to GB but these are foreign appliances .

As far as I was aware unless it’s branded Classixx, Exxcell or Logixx then it’s sealed. From what I can see of Uk models that means if it’s got a 5kg drum (like the one your looking at) then it’s sealed.
Please someone correct me if i’m wrong

    Re: Bosch WAA28165 -sealed drum?

Thanks for the quick reply guys… I really was swinging toward this one as it had all the bits I wanted…. thats a shame…. the ISE one is beggining to look like a winner for the price.

….any tips on finding someone to recycle old machines?… If I get an ISE one, that is the only hurdle (as I’ll have to order from the website… I live 20miles from the nearest stockist… which only offers the 5 year warranty… and I can’t stretch to that plus likely delivery cost… and no time to save, I have a dead machine!).

    Re: Bosch WAA28165 -sealed drum?

Have you checked that you can get anyone out to repair the ISE under warranty if required? The place 20 miles away may not be willing to come that far. We have recently been told about some new Zanussi machines that don’t come with sealed drums. You could consider these:

    ZWF12380W
    ZWF14380W
    ZWF14069W
    JLWM1200

Sorry to confuse things but some of the WAA range do have splittable tubs, its worth checking on the bosch website for the specifications.
The WAA24171 is a great machine, (if you can find one!)
