    First post, please be gentle….

The drum on our zwf16070w1 washing machine won’t rotate…under extreme forcing it will move, but it’s a real effort. It’s only a year old…

    Thoughts?

    Cheers dudes….

    Hi,

Something stuck in it would be the most obvious cause.

Either that or a bearing failure.

Talk to me like I’m thick, how could I diagnose either of those?

    F…i..r…s…t o…f a…l….l, ( am I going slowly enough for you ) 😆

Joking over, it would help if you could post up the Pnc or product number from the rating plate. This would help us in determining if the machine has one of the dreaded sealed drums. 😥

If it is a bearing failure then in most cases the machine will have been very noisy on spin for some time.

If the drum has jammed suddenly then it would suggest you have something stuck under the drum.

That can be anything from a small item of clothing such as a sock or metal objects such as screws or keys left in pockets.

Either way it is not one of the easiest machines to access and a call from an engineer may be the sensible option.

What does that number look like or where would it be? 😳

Thats the one. Thankfully your machine does have the screwed tub.

Has it been noisy for a while on fast spin or did it just jam up without warning.

It is sometimes possible to fish obstructions out through the sump hose or the heating element. It really depends on what is stuck and where it is.

I don’t think it has been noisy, not so I’d have noticed anyway, so I think it just jammed up…

This may sound noddy, but how can I tell if it is the bearings or something stuck?

    Re: Zanussi ZWF16070W1

The bearings would generally have to be fairly badly damaged and have been making an awful noise for some time for the drum to sieze TBH.

Without actually seeing the machine or being able to turn the drum myself it is purely conjecture on my part.

A physical examination, possibly by someone with the appropriate skills 😉 is required.

I’m looking at removing the wheel on the back of the drum that the belt attaches to…it has a 6 spliened socket hole…

Is it a left or right hand thread? Cheers..

Taking the drum pulley off is not the answer to your problem and will get you nowhere nearer sorting it TBH.

Are there any rusty stains down the back of the drum?

The ‘TORX’ bolt will be a normal, RH thread.

So, how did you manage to extract it?
