Machine fills then cycles through drain/gurgle/drain(I think-if only the door was see through!). Reset completely drains the machine and everything stops

Stripped down machine- pump ok and motor seems to be fine- the whirly bits turn and there was no signs of leaks or corrosion.

Is it a new motor job, capacitor(didnt hear any stall hum) or something else. New motor costs a lot and reluctant to do if it isnt it and something else. The machine was used infrequently from new then idle for 18 months before using again-it lasted three weeks of regular use before this happened.

Does it fill/drain/fill/drain continuously when started ? The water level float switch may be gunged up and stuck , therefore not lifting as the water level rises . If the appliance doesn’t see this rise , it will continue filling until it reaches a ‘flood’ level’ ( operated by the mushroom float on the loor of the tub ) which then operates the drain pump until the level drops where it will then continue filling.

The level float is situated at approx the 5 o’clock position in sump. Remove the filters and locate the little cover in the 5 o’clock spot . Lift this little covr up and the float is in a small vertical channel beneath it. Lift out the float – MAKING A NOTE OF ITS ORIENTATION – I.E GREY SIDE UP – and give it and the channel it runs up and down in a very good clean….i normally use very hot water…and then re-assemble , making sure the float is the right way up and runs smoothly in its channel.

    This could solve your problem.

This seems to have done the trick-It didn’t seem stuck or gunged up but it has worked twice since I gave it a clean in place- I will take it out and do it properly now.
This also may have been the temporary cure when the machine first failed- when I moved the machine back into position the jolt seemed to be the thing that started it. it then did 4 or 5 washes before stopping.

    many thanks
