Hi My dishwasher is not cleaning dishes on top shelf. We have checked the filters and spray arms (all clean). When switched on the upper spray arm doesnt appear to be turning….what could be the problem.

I have also noticed recently that remains of dishwasher tablet are left in the bottom of the appliance, presumably due to lack of water from the top spray arm???

The machine is 6 years old and previously ran ok.

Start a new cycle and let it run for approx 5 mins….then open the door and check the water level in the bottom of the tub. Does it reach the salt pot lid and just about cover the whole base ?

Also listen as it initially fills…does it go clonk clonk clonk on the fill ?

It sounds like a possible low water level problem , which isn’t too bad to remedy. HOWEVER , if its the diverter motor for the spray arms faulty then its a major fix .

Could you also post up the full model number…it should be etched onto the top of the nner door and will be labelled as Enr – S…………

Just put it on using auto cycle – no clonking noises just water filling – checked after 5 minutes and there is hardly any water in the bottom, definitely not up to salt pot lid.

    Appliance no is – SGS53A02GB/27

Update – I have run the machine with a dishwasher cleaner on the hottest setting – after 10 minutes looked inside and there still didnt seem much water so I added about a kettle full into the bottom. Closed the door and recommenced the program and was amazed at the slooshing and washing sounds – adding the water seemed to make a difference. It looks like it is definitely something to do with the water level.

Waiting to hear on what next course of action should be but in meantime may try a quick wash to see if the cleaner has made any difference and unblocked something.
