ParticipantHi
Used the machine this morning and then put it on an extra rinse, the power light and LED 4 then started to flash and now it won’t work.
What does this error mean and anything I can check before calling someone out? I’ve drained the water from the bottom and checked the hoses.
Thanks 🙂

Not much you can do TBH.
Light four flashing indicates a motor triac fault, could be broken motor to main PCB wiring or connections but the odds are on it being a failure of the main PCB. 😥
The electronics on these are very suspect.

Thanks for the reply 🙂
I turned the machine off for a few hours and it was ok for nearly a week after that, then the lights came on again. I’ve noticed this happens after the rinse cycle and the machine is VERY noisy and bangs alot! Turned it off and it works as normal just noisy every now and again.
Having searched the net abit more it seems to be a common problem but I’ve not found out what causes it? I have no insurance for it and I don’t know whether to get it repaired or buy a new one?
TIA

If the motor is not running under proper control, the drum will bang about all over the place.

Well it seems to have died now!!
It’s 5 years old now so I’m assuming it’s not worth fixing going by the prices for spares when you add labour and call out charges. I don’t have much of a budget for a new one neither 🙁
I’ve been looking at the John Lewis ones with 3 years guarantee, made by AEG and Zanussi from what I’ve found. Are these ok?

AEG doesn’t really exist anymore, like Zanussi it is a brand name owned by Electrolux.
Not bad for the price when the guarantee you will get is taken into account, certainly better than any Indesit machine.
