We have an Indesit Evolution DE73 that has run faultlessly for about 5 years which judging by a quick search on the web puts us in the minority.

Anyway today it decided to stop working about halfway through a cycle and it caused the electrics in the house to trip out.

With the electrics switched back on turning on the dishwasher again caused it to come on for a couple of seconds and then trip the electrics again.

I wondered if water had got into the base of the machine so I emptied the machine and then tipped it up and some water did come out of the base of it but after stipping the machine down it doesn’t look to have been that wet.

After drying out the machine it now switches on and doesn’t trip the electrics and the pump keeps whirring to try and empty itself out as it does at the start of a program but after about 3 minutes it shows A05 instead of stopping after about 30 seconds as it usually does.

According to the information I’ve found on the web this indicates a problem with the pressure sensor. If I fill the machine with some water when it starts to overflow the filter the pressure sensor is activated and I’ve checked it’s wiring back to the main pcb and all is good.

Switching it on empties the water quickly but the pump keeps running for ages and then A05 comes up.

    So my questions are:-

I’ve read mention that the pressure sensor needs to be reset, does this involve something that can be done on the controls or is it just a case of ensuring it works as Ive done.

Is it likely to be a PCB fault?

Are there any other causes for the error A05?

Can anyone suggest any thing else for me to check or what parts to look at replacing?

A05 specifically means that the machine thinks that it is full of water after the drain period has passed.

Given that it’s gone bang, the contacts in the water level switch may be welded shut. The root cause is usually the heating element.
