We are in the market for a new dryer as our eight year old AEG Lavatherm 57710 has suffered what appears to be mechanical damage in several spots to the edge of the drum by the door, resulting in a drum which has very sharp cuts that rip apart our clothing. Also, tons of fluff and lint make their way under the drum at the gap between the drum and housing by the door. This of course builds up and makes terrible noises, although I do try and clean the fluff out with a chopstick.
My wife is interested in the AEG 88840 that has a steam ironing function which is supposed to get the vast majority of wrinkles out of the clothes, reducing the need to iron everything. Does anyone know if this actually works well? It would be great if it did as she spends about four hours every weekend ironing her clothing.
Also, from what I’ve read here and elsewhere AEG make respectable machines, does this still hold true?
Lastly, does anyone know if the issue with lint and fluff getting trapped under the drum and screaming like a banshee has been addressed in the current line of AEG dryers?
Thanks for the help.
Ziemas.
