Okay, purely by accident I’ve discovered how to split threads, Jim will rejoice.

Basically what this allows us to do is to split a post or posts out from a thread that wanders off topic, here’s how you do it…

First find the moderation link so you enter into the moderator mode…

It’s the one I’ve highlighted in the image above.

Next locate the topic in the main display that you see after clicking that, where we’d normally see that we could move, delete and whatnot a post…

I picked the topic highlighted to show you how to do this but the next bit is really important so, pay attention…

    DOUBLE CLICK THE TOPIC!!!

Once you double click the topic you get into the thread splitting stuff.

    You see that! ^^^^^^^

If you want to split out a post, or posts if they are all a separate conversation you need to enter a new topic for the conversation BEFORE you tell to to split or, you’ll get an error. So the highlighted “New Topic Title” at teh top does need something in it to create the new topic.

What I’m not sure about as, I only just discovered this myself, is what the “Split from selected post” is all about. But I’m sure we can play about with it and suss it out.

TO get multiple posts selected just scroll down from there and use the checkboxes…

Select the ones you want to hive off elsewhere and that’s it, done.

You can’t split the original post as shows, for obvious reasons.

    Re: Splitting Hairs

After all this time I have just split my first thread, in the public dishwasher forum and didn’t break anything. 8)

Would still like a ‘merge’ option. 😉

Ditto, one from ISE 1607 thread to dishwasher help as well 😛 really scary, I had to keep double checking what I was trying to do before hitting the submit button.
