Went to a Indesit Washer WIDL126 that never gets past the main wash cycle (prog 3 at 40 degrees) per the customer. It just continues indefinitely.

We found no error codes showing up. Also the heater (the obvious suspect being a heating fault) is getting voltage and is OK on megger and continuity, and is heating the water OK. All other functions work OK.

The round thermistor by the heater measures 12.28K at 35 degrees – Can someone tell me if this is the correct resistance? Seems a bit high.

Is there an overheat protection stat on this machine? I could not see one.

I figured if the thermistor is packed up, it could be causing an endless cycle up to the overheat stat. Or is it (ugh) a PCB fault.

    Thanx for any advice.

I think the thermistor reading is OK. It would give an error code if not anyway. Don’t think there’s an overheat stat, just the thermal fuse in element.
Perhaps there could be a dry joint or poor connection at the module. Or perhaps a heater connector is gone brittle and intermittent. I wouldn’t be too surprised if it turned out that the element is going o/c when it gets to 35 then cutting back in when it cools, ad infinitum. Have had such strange things occur, though very rarely.

PCB……… It’s always the bl@@dy pcb. If it’s not logical and doesn’t throw error codes, it’s the pcb.
