    Hi Guys

On board in Joining the mad house as lawrence so nicely put it!

I have had a quick read through this forum.

I must take my hat off to you all, on the hard work you have done for our trade over the last 2 years.
I have spoken to Ken may times badgering him for stuff and expecting answers immediatly, I know how busy he always is and how much he does for us. (How he fits in a social life is beyond me); but alot of recognition goes to the rest of you for your dedication to the cause.

I think its easy for many us to sit back and do nothing and moan about the industry we are in. If only the other members really knew how much effort you all put in behind the scenes for the rest of us.

I must admit feel a bit out of my depth now after reading this, not having any knowledge of committies and exactly what goes on behind closed door (until now).

Do you all degrees in business, law and politics?

I put myself forward as I would like to help and input where I possibly can.

If you are interested I would just like to introduce myself, a few of you already know me, but for those who do not I will set the record straight I am Steven Withers.

I work (run the operation if you call it that) for Green & Burton Services (I know the name confused Chris) when I left school and started here as a YTS apprentice if you could call it that (just cheap labour) some 20 years ago.

The company was started by Mr Green & Mr Burton in 1974 only Mr Green still with us.
I make all the decisions without the finacial worry.
I currently do all the office admin stuff and work as a field / workshop engineer inbetween.

Most of my experience gained has been self taught, due to the lack of training skills unavailable through other trade bodies or colleges, hopefully this will change and if we could be the first to trade association to do more in this area and get some young blood into the industry I think it would benefit all of us?

I look forward to working with you all and shall see you at the meeting.

    Steven

    Welcome aboard Steven!!
Ideas and enthusiasm are the main requirements for the WTA – the commitee are basically all engineers running our own businesses. Everyone sees that change in this industry is badly needed and DASA are not rising to the challenge.
So if you want something doing – do it yourself!! Hence the WTA.

Grab an oar and dig in!!

    Steve.

    Re: On Board

    Hi Guys,

After volunteering to join the TA 2 weeks ago I have been trying to rearrange plans I had already made for this weekend so as I could get to the September meeting. Unfortunately there is no way I can make it without letting a lot of people down and I just cannot do that at this late stage.

I am still willing to join the TA (and take the 40 lashes, or whatever the punishment is, for missing a meeting) but will understand if this is not possible without attending.

Other meetings will not be a problem with having more notice and I can only apologise for this one.

I can’t see how that would affect me as I don’t drink alcohol.

See you in December, mines is a coke.
