    I’ve got a Smeg DW1612C integrated dishwasher. After finishing a full cycle it beeped and ran the drain pump in short bursts. Now whichever wash cycle is chosen upon closing the door it beeps, the drain pump runs for a fraction of a second and then stops and then the it beeps again and so on. I haven’t got the manual for it, so I can’t see if it is giving a fault code.

    I’ve checked for blockages in the drain hose and drain pump. I’ve removed the drain pump and, if I put 240v across it, it runs fine. I’ve checked for broken door wires and there’s none. There’s no water in the bottom tray, so it’s not triggering the anti flood switch.

    I suspect it’s the control board (thought there’s no fried tracks on it), but I’m sure that it’s an expensive part and I’d like to be sure that that is at fault before I even contemplate buying one.

    PCB is corrupted – a fairly classic description. However………. You need to have a read of THIS ARTICLE before rushing off and buying a new part.

    There is an ebay seller that offers a PCB test and repair service for these, with 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} refund if no fault found and 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} if unrepairable.

    It is about £48 which is a lot cheaper than a new PCB.

    Thanks for the reply and that link. So if it’s not the capacitor (I’m fairly sure that it’s not the door lock) it’s a gamble between PCB and soap dispenser – both of which will no doubt be very expensive parts.

    Well, I got the control board back form QER with no fault found. So, the next thing to try will be the mains supressor and the soap dispenser.

    Anyone know if there’s some way of diagnosing a problem with the soap dispenser that doesn’t involve buying and swapping for a new one (I think they’re about £40)? How about just disconnecting the solenoid so that it’s open circuit? Or perhaps putting a washing machine inlet solenoid in circuit instead?
