ParticipantI have a samsung SR44RMB which is seven years old and yeaterday has stopped working. I hope someone on this forum can help me. Yesterday the fridge was warm and that the ice had started to melt in the freezer. At the same time I realised that I had not heard it humming (I can usually can hear it humming when it is working).
I switched it off at the mains for ten minutes and when I switched it on again, it was humming as normal and both the fridge and freezer sections worked.
This morning the ice in the freezer is still frozen, but the fridge is warm and there is no humming sound.
Thanks for reading.

I’ve taken some of the insides out and got some more information:
The temperature sensor in the fridge part looks like its working – the resistance changes with temperature.
When turned on from the mains, the freezer part cools and its fan turns.
There is no ice blocking the air flow from the freezer to the fridge.
Can anyone help please?

KeymasterSounds like a compressor failure.

I’ve put it all back together and there is cold air being blown in both the freezer and fridge sections. It has been switched off for a while and the doors have been open so both sections are warm. I’m going to leave it on to see if it stops working after a while.

Hi
the fault will probably be within the defrost circuit.either the heater, sensor, overload.if when i goes into defrost mode approx every 8 hours the sensor doesnt reach +17oc then the unit wont switch back on.by switching off then back on will reset the board and start the count down again.

Thanks for the information. It has been on for about 7 hours now and the compressor has been coming on and off as normal. I’ll see how it is in the morning.

Both sections are warm this morning and the compressor is not coming on.
r600a – you were correct.
This is on the back of the fridge:

Sorry for the poor picture, its the best my phone could manage.
I’m seeing no continuity between 7 and 1 on the CN01 connector which goes to the defrost heater so I think it is the thermal fuse that has blown.
Edit: I found the thermal fuse and it has not blown, however the heater is open circuit. I’m guessing that the heater is not replaceable without replacing the whole evaporator unit but it does not look like a DIY job – is this correct?

Hi
The heater can be replaced with extreme care on its own.I would need the full model number and serial number to make sure that the correct part is supplied.

The model number is SR-44RMB. The serial number is 743942BT200135W.

Hi All
I’ve got one of these SR44RMB Samsung fridges as well.
It well over 5 years old, maybe 8, it’s been good as gold but this morning the Freezer is fine but the fridge is room tempreture. I’ve checked the thermostat in the fridge compartment and it seems fine.
The compressor is working but the fan seems to have stopped as no cold air is being blown into the fridge compartment.
I’ve read the posts above and I need to check the heater and thermal fuse, but can somebody tell me where to find them?
I can see the box of electronics at the bottom of the fridge and I’ve had a look in there. The only pink wire I can see goes to the rally big capacitor. Where can I find the subboard, thermal fuse and heater?
How do I physically get to the fan? I mean it looks as if you can’t take the back of the fridge/freezer!
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks
Ray
