Should you avoid opening the fridge or freezer doors during the auto defrost cycle?

The defrost timer is an 8 hour 20 minute one.
Is it feasible to schedule it so it occurs during times your less likely to be using the fridge?
    e.g.
    6 am
    2 pm
    10 pm

If I understand it correctly, it would invole manually winding it on.
Turning the power off doesn’t restart it does it?

So long as you don’t leave the door open for an extended period (which you shouldn’t do anyway) there should be no issue with this and no requirement to avoid the defrost cycle.

Basically there is no user involvement in this area and you should have no requirement to ever touch the timer.

    Thanks.
If I’m replacing the timer anyway, is it feasible though?

    Not really, no.

The timers aren’t that accurate IME. But, in any event, there should be no requirement to do this.
