I’ve got an Electrolux ceramic hob, code 941 592 714, which has lost its beep. The beeper used to last for quite a long time through cooking dinner, and then would just stop. This makes me think there is a bad contact somewhere, affected by heat.

It now fails almost immediately – I sometimes get a fraction of a second of a beep when I turn it on.

    All cooking functions are unaffected.

It’s annoying in that if the hob decides to turn itself off because of something left over the control pads I don’t know about it. Also, when adjusting the setting of a ring I used to count beeps but now have to look at the control indicator.

Is this a known issue? Would resoldering the control board help? Are replacement beepers available? Note that I installed this myself a few years ago and am also an electronics engineer from way back.

A look at the parts diagram shows only a complete electronic control board assembly. No sub-parts are listed. P/no 8996619258-87/5 – a snip at around £120 last time I wanted one.

Thanks, that is helpful…. I think!

I had the unit off while I checked for the serial numbers, removing it from the worktop and incidentally cleaning out all the muck from around the edge. Last night the beep worked for the longest it has in a long time!

That was probably the mechanical disturbance. I’ll take a look at the board and see if there’s any obvious dry joints. I certainly don’t want to have to buy a new one if I can avoid it!
