My washing machiene has the pre wash light flashing when i try and start a wash but water is coming into the machiene. the programme does not go any further than the first bit of water coming into the draw.

If i put the machiene on a spin it spins and prgramme completes, if i put it on pump out this works fine to. I think the computer has got a bit confused and needs resetting,

Does anyone know how to reset this particular model?

Hotpoint have quoted me over £100 to come out to fix it this does seem a little excessive for what may be a simple problem!

    Please help!

Might be best to go ahead and get Hotpoint out to it. Fault is probably in the main circuit board and is likely to be expensive whoever you get. You can try cancelling using the start/cancel button pressed in until all the lights light up and also try turning it off briefly at the mains.

    Thanks for the advice,
Any idea how I find out if it is definitely one of the valves? How would I go about changing a valve or is that best left to an expert if that is the problem?

Test meter across the coil terminls and perform resistance test – you’re looking for readings in kOhms.

    Power off first.
