ParticipantWhen I first went to this it was doing the long spin in less than a minute and the short spin in about 20 seconds. I fitted a new timer/module and it did do a full spin. It had several abortive attempts when it started speeding up then stopped, I assume due to out-of-balance detection. The drum was empty. It did eventually get going and spun for the normal time. Now customer says it is no better, still not spinning. I did check the brushes but I’m wondering whether to try a different motor. Before changing the timer I did try doing the spin with the pressure switch hose off but it made no difference.
Another thing I noticed when I originally tried the machine was that the dryer fan came on at one stage during what should have been a rinse. I’m pretty sure the timer knob bits are assembled correctly and are not broken.
Anyone had this fault?September 17, 2009 at 1:06 pm #297332Martin

Not that I can recall sorry but I would take a close look at the state of the heater? Poor insulation there can cause similar symptoms.

Also check drier heater insulation and continuity.

I checked everything I could think of, heaters, TOC / stats, NTC, valves etc etc but no joy. I also tried it with either the wash heater or the dryer heater disconnected but it made no difference. The machine is now clicking through the programme very quickly, just stopping for a few seconds at each position. It is also turning on the dryer fan at one position (actually the “freshen up” programme) but the dryer light does not light up when that happens. I’ve given up with it and given the customer a refund. 😥

I did check that on my first visit. Interestingly, the last Zanussi bearings job I did also had a loose tacho magnet, which I only discovered when it was back together and I was doing testing. I didn’t bother telling the customer about this, just fixed it and carried on. I think she was a bit surprised when I only billed her the amount I originally estimated but she had not mentioned any other symptoms. :rolls:
