ParticipantAncient but robust Bosch Dishwasher has started flooding.
Occurs during the initial fill, which appears not to turn off – causing water to leak through door. Strangely, if during that fill you stop the process temporarily (eg by operating the door handle switch), when it restarts the flooding does not occur – almost as though it triggers a reset, or possibly moves the mechanical timer to the next position. After that point all else works perfectly.Have cleaned and checked drainage is OK.
Sounds to me like either a microswitch (but which and where) or the timer.
Grateful for your thoughts.

Transfer pipe is probably blocked. Remove plug and left hand side panel. There is a black hose at the bottom of the fill matrix, which connects to the sump moulding. Remove and clean thoroughly, as well as the spigots where it connects.

Either the float switch is stuck/faulty and not operating or quite possibly it’s not filling fast enough…either way get the LHS panel off to have a look.
Power off at all times :zap:

Hi all
Haven’t taken it to pieces yet as we have a house-full tomorrow. I guess when you say LHS that is when facing front of the machine? Also is the float switch obvious? (like being the only micro-switch in the LHS) If not how do I find it?Thanks for all your help.

Clive couldn’t wait, so ripped off the side (in a manner of speaking). Microswitch was fine electrically, but looked like the plastic float had come off the spigot. Relocated it and all is well again. Not sure what caused this to happen (although there were quite a few bits of dirt floating) and didn’t have time for a detailed investigation, so crossing fingers. If it happens again looks like I’ll be looking to buy a replacement float unit from this site.
Thanks to you and Penguin45 for such prompt and perfect advice.
