ParticipantEverything has a white film over it once the wash is finished (and the door is opened and everything is exposed to the air for a while). I have turned the salt and rinseaid to the lowest settings (In fact I’ve had them on every possible combination of setting).
Also the salt is empty/drained after one wash! I’m sure there is a problem with the salt (tale tale rust on things is a big clue!) but have tried all sorts to no avail… Can anyone help please?

Hi,
Most answers on dishwasher as well as washing machine stains, marks, residues and suchlike can be found in this section.
For this problem the article you’re likely looking for is this one.

Hi
thanks for your response but it’s the crockery and clutlery that’s got the film on it too. Also the dishwasher is using 2kg of salt per wash which I think is the problem but I don’t know how to fix it.September 20, 2009 at 4:09 pm #297565chezza

Might seem obvious, but is there any damage to the salt container cap or seal ? broken thread etc ?

I’ve checked the cap and it’s not broken, the seal looks fine but it does have short threads, only two that go half way round the cap, they don’t join and it does not close tight.

KeymasterWell it sure shouldn’t be using that amount of salt so it could well be a fault with the resin container.

If it was my dishwasher I would start using the all in one tablets rather than spend money on this particular brand.

Thanks to you all
Thanks for the tip that the container might be at fault so will invistigate costs to repair or fix but in the meantime I will start using tablets that have everything in them I think and see how they work

Tablets dont work as well and the elements get scaled up quicker if you are in a hard water area but a big majority of people use them.
I still think this is the best option for you as Diplomat dishwashers are of poor build quality and not worth spending a great deal of money on IMO.Graham

Tablets are a real bad idea in that machine, almost guaranteed to break it TBH.
For a start tabs aren’t much cop in any small dishwasher, be it table top, drawer or slimline.
But that’s one of the Chinese machines, the 45cm one to boot and they are, frankly a horrible nightmare of a thing that will go wrong if you look at them the wrong way.
Sorry.

It will be a problem with the resin pot (water softener). You might be lucky if you remove it’s solenoid and gently clean the rubber tip on the valve pin underneath it, then make sure it slides freely within the coil. If not then it’s time for a new softener…the parts are dirt cheap but then so is the machine 😕

Clearly the lesson to be learned here is no more Diplomat machines!!
