The motor seal was causing a small leak in the base and there was a small amount of the white encrustation underneath, The motor is running but at about half speed then gets hot and the t.o.c cuts out.
This motor has a capacitor and what looks like a small p.t.c device attached, I have replaced the cap and even disconnected it but still getting hot. is there any chance that the p.t.c could be causing this? or is it new motor time, And would any one know what the cold Resistance of the motor should be?.
Oh, And its my machine so need to get sorted pronto otherwise I may need to purchase some Marrigolds 🙁

Goose you need to remove the motor, replace the impellor kit and possibly the front ballrace bearing. At least a spot of 3 in 1 on the bearing once the impellor kit is replaced should allow the pump to spin quite freely and no longer cause overheating/toc probs.

Hi, Martin the bearing fine and the motor turns freely, This is what s confusing me The seal must have only been just started leaking as there was some staining at the bottom of the Mtr housing but clean as a whistle around the shaft. forgot to say 240v at motor terminals.

Hmmmmm?…don’t sound good for the motor windings then but sadly I don’t have the resistance values, sorry. If the motor turns freely yet running at half speed I guess the run winding isn’t kicking in?

As it happened suddenly I’m wondering if the PTC switches from start to run windings and has gone faulty. Strange that with the cap disconnected it made no difference, Could any BSH guys throw any light on it?.
