    Hi – I have got awhirlpool super capacity tumble dryer with faulty motor. Need to replace it but how do I get the large fan off the end of the motor shaft?

    You Dont! We smash them off and order a new one with the motor. They are always corroded on. Nightmare things.

    Put a spanner on the pulley end of the motor to stop it turning.(there is a flat on the shaft for this purpose)
    Find a spanner of suitable length to wedge accross the fan then put another spanner in the centre and use a big screwdriver at the other end to turn the fan and unscrew it.
    Never fails 8)

    i always use a socket extension bar in the square hole in the middle of the fan, and mole grips on the pulley end.

    Works for me
