The prog on bbc tv last night 7-30 showing an experiment with a toffee rocket,ie toffee down a tube, nitrous oxide fed through, strapped it to the back of a bicycle and probaby got to around 30mph+ before he cut the fuel.
Using peanut butter too it propelled a 4 wheel flat trolley at almost 200mph only being stopped by a buffer.
Whilst the ingredients are flammable they change dramatically when nitrous oxide is introduced,it’s used within most solid rocket projects to help and increase firing/explosive power.
Same stuff is used as the propellent for Squirty creams, sweedish fire authorities have pointed this out following a fridge explosion there, they are thinking that a faulty or corroded valve on the cream may have accelerated the effect.
Worth a look at the experiment on iplayer, not sure it’s what 15 year olds looking for a buzz should be watching though. 😯
Good job I didn’t know that at 15ish 😉
