My Bosch WTL6003GB/17 drier has just died – the spider that holds the drum to the bearing set disintegrated and it looks like it’s only available as part of a new drum assembly – ouch.
Looking on these forums I see that WTL6003 is described as ‘the infamous White Knight Condenser dryer (with a Bosch badge stuck on the front).’
Ouch. It was a s0d to work on and I was had – I thought I was buying a Bosch.
So my question is – which new Bosch condenser dryers on the market are made by Bosch? (Or put another way, are there any in the range now to avoid?)

Most are now made by others so far as I am aware.
Might be time to look at other brands.
Just remember, volumes for dryers are low and they are generally only used in Northern Europe and the Northern States of the USS and, of course Canada. In short, there’s not that much to choose from in reality.

i might be missing something here, so correct me if im wrong, but the wtl6003 was around about 6-8 years ago, which is a pretty good life for a drier these days.
so apart from badge snobbery is there anything wrong with replacing it with a white knight badged condenser? they arent the worst on the market (but not the best) as far as condensers go, and dont blow their stats as often as hotpoint/indesit/credas. also because they are british built, they havent been affected by the pounds recent slump against the euro, which has caused a mssive 30-40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} price rise with all european built appliances over the last 21 months
depends really on your budget – our shop opinion is the zanussi condensors are solid and hardest wearing, but tend to be expensive when something actually goes wrong like thermostats if you forget to clean the filter as zanussi wont supply the heater stats/cutouts separate from the element!
hotpoint credas and indesits have top mounted water containers, which make emptying a lot more conveniest. but also arent the most solid on the market. however spares are fairly cheap and easily available however there are issues with getting the *right* parts for some of the models. not even hotpoitns own spares sales team seem to have the right information to hand all the time!
siemens still sell their appliances based on “designed and built in germany”… so is an expensive choice. but the cheapest is £480ish+ so its an “investment” considering they still have a 5yr p&l warranty.
Thing is tho if you are consideriing an investment purchase, have you asked penguin abotu the ise?
