Recently, my AEG 506D extractor/hood became very noisy (think of that of landing helicopter kind of thing) even when the speed slider is halfway through. Apart from that noise it works well.

My mrs told me that she wants me to either fix the extractor or to replace it with something better.

    Questions:

    1. Is it possible to fix it somehow or do I need to buy a new one?
    2. If the answer for ‘1’ is ‘get a new one’, then what is the quietest extractor of this kind? I mean, I did a quick look at some websites and couldn’t find any mode with downwards facing controls.

My budget for replacement is in a region of 400 quid. I don’t want any kind of modern extractors/hoods as it won’t blend with kitchen style (it is very traditional kind of kitchen).

    Many thanks for advise.

Maybe build up of dirt on fan causing an imbalance & causing it to shake/shudder when in full flight

    Thanks for reply! 🙂

There is a plastic cover (two covers to be precise) for fans. If I remove these and give it a good clean, do you think it’ll make system quieter? Or I would have to replace fans to do so?
