I have a F&P gw 709 which was found beeping with error code 107 (I think) ie leds from right to left as follows 11010110. From searching this forum I am lead to believe the Motor control module could be at fault and also to check solenoids. Is this correct. Also for added info if a restart is attempted the fill solenoids appear to pulse for a minute or so until the machine faults. If advanced the machine will drain but will not spin. Thanks in advance for your assistance

After CORRECTLY entering diagnostic mode the following fault codes appear 11100100 (39)
00010100(40) The code in the original post is still the only one that appears if allowed to fault
    Thanks

Water level control issue – transducer (level switch) is not detecting a change in water level in the time allowed. Pobable cause is the air hose to the switch becoming detached or holed; possible that the transduced has failed.

Stripped machine down and cleaned and checkedtransducer pipe. No splits and appeared to be firm at the attatcment points. There was a fair bit of gunge around where the water enters the pipe in the external tub. Checked coil resistances of solenoids all ok. No obvious corrosion or leaks anywhere so bit the bullet and bought control card as I suspected the transducer. No joy, fault still the same ie machine pulses on start up and solenoid is allowing spurts of water (unsure if motor is also pulsing). The difference with the new card is that the diagnostics now show error 131 ie from RIGHT to LEFT 11000001. Any ideas? Thanks again
Further scouring of this forum tells me 131 is RPS fault. All seemed dry down there but did not remove white plastic motor cover . Is it just the plastic nut that needs to be taken off to access the sensor? I am already $173 down for the board and am weighing up options. What should sensor measure across terminals etc. Thanks, Andrew

Fault code 131 is an RPS problem so you will have to remove the plastic rotor cap to inspect it on the side of the stator. Look for corrosion on its Printed Circuit Board. The RPS can also cause fault code 107. You will need a dedicated tester to measure the RPS signal out put. The quality of the waveform pattern it generates can’t be measured with a multimeter. In the field I find the Motor Controller dose this job ok without a tester if the restart mode is disabled in Diagnostic mode.

Can’t explain why you have had fault codes 39+40, they aren’t directly related to your other problem.

Have just removed the rotor cover to find that the RPS has activated the smoke release circuit. I would price one of these to add to the $173 I spent on the card that is ok but I also noticed that the stator has 2 cracks that almost extend from the coils to the shaft boss so I’m thinking it is new machine time. Thanks to all who helped it is greatly appreciated and if anyone around brisbane needs a brand new control board for a 709 I have a very reasonably priced one here 😆
It gets worse, on closer inspection it seems the short on the RPS has at best burnt a former fot the adjacent motor coil and more probably damaged the winding so out comes the credit card! :eeek:
Finally a positive. Just ordered a new machine and cost exactly the same as the last one (699aud) did 7 years ago plus $100 factory cash back. Over and out.
