ParticipantGood Afternoon all,
My washing machine is on it’s last legs! It’s making an extremely loud noise when in operation and is leaving marks on our clothes!
I may post another topic after to see if anyone can help diagnose and maybe help with the problem. The machine is only about 2 years old but is on a lot (my wife does a lot of washing!). So basically I am going to buy a new washing machine and want some advice as to what to go for.
Having read up a little bit, it seems Miele, Siemens and Bosch are the best around and hotpoint is not worth bothering with!
I’m not looking to spend a fortune and I noticed you had an under £300 and £300-£500 best buys link on the website but it looks like this was last updated in 2007.
Can someone recommend a washing machine that will hopefully last a considerable while longer than 2 years and can cope with being used on average once or twice a day!
Also, where’s the best place to buy a washing machine from? Any advice as to where I can get the best deals and whether the comet clearance store is worth considering?
Thanks in advance!

Hi lpop
Miele, Siemens and Bosch are around the best without a doubt. If you don`t want to spend a fortune then discount the Miele as you will not get a new machine for under £500.
Siemens machines on the other hand do come in around that budget and will come with a five year warranty if purchased from an authorised dealer, which could be an important factor with the sort of usage you are anticipating. Bosch which is part of the same group as Siemens are the next step down and come with a two year warranty. They are great machines and will start around the £350 mark, very well made and extremely easy to use.
Another way of loking at the scenario is the to perhaps conside the ISE10 autowsher with a full 10-year warranty it is a machine designed by some of the engineers on this site who were dissolusioned with the quality and costly price of spares of machines along with national call centres. There is lots more info about the brand and the ethos on the website http://www.iseappliances.co.uk/ if you can stretch to the budget the machine is built to more than cope with the anticipated use.

Your local independant retailer is the best place to purchase from as they will give the best advice and service. You will pay a higher price but you will recieve a first class service back up.
IIRC the Comet clearance site was set up to resell damaged / faulty and returned stock it should still come with a warranty.

Thankyou Don and Petalpop for your advice.
I think i’m going to go with the ISE machine with 5 year warranty. Would love the machine with the 10 year warranty but cannot afford it!
Does the £50 installation and delivery include removing and taking away our old machine? I can’t see any mention of this?

Hi
It should include the disposal of the old appliance, just mention it to the installer.
HTH 🙂
