I GOT MY HANDS ON A SECOND HAND SMEG F/FREEZER.
FREEZER WORKS O/K. FRIDGE WILL NOT GET COLD. STAT O/K
IT HAS TWO MOTORS ALL SEEMS O/K.
I THOUGHT IT MAY BE OUT OF GAS?
NOT BIG ON FRIDGE REPAIRS.THE ODD STAT.
ANY HELP PLEASE. SEEMS A SHAME TO SCRAP IT.

had a few compressor failures on these turn off freezer plug in then get your ear near the compressor for the fridge and listen to the faint humming of the compressor before it switches off on its internal protector (danfoss pot normally ) the last one i repaired the customer had bought off e bay for £250 with a blown fridge pot she happily paid £180 to have it fixed as a new one was going to cost her £900 😯

gas leak then mate wet wall evaporater so no genuine long term repair 🙁 ,ive regassed a few for customers but only on the understanding that the repair is not permanent and as such carries no warranty not been called back to any so can only assume the leak is minute

we normally charge around £75 -£80 but you will have to keep it switched on as once you turn them off for a few days the refrigerant escapes quickly and then your back to square one . might be best to see if you can sell it through e bay as a none worker they seem to fetch silly money even when broken 😉

sorry down in the midlands 😥 i dont blame your wife they do look smart we have a large red smeg in our workshop its been stabbed to death by its previous owner when i get time i intend to have a go at bringing it back to life it might then be following me home 😆
