ParticipantAnybody out there that has had a Vauxhall Combo van with the sliding side door stuck. All the mechanical cables operate to the locking mechanism ok. The actual resistance across the common black/yellow lead to the other two contacts is 9 ohms & 6.9 ohms from the locking unit.
Is the side door lock actually operated by a solenoid or a motor as it says in the Haynes Manual?Have hot wired directly 12 volts to the actual connections on the lock and got a clunk from both contacts. There seems to be a 12 volt pulse coming from the three metal contacts on the door pillar. Cannot easily open up the box of tricks as it looks all nicely riveted up. Any service engineers that have had the problem with a Combo trying to get to their customers and fixed it?

Had from new since 2003 with a rear seat that folds up and have now taken out the complete lock and checked out the wiring ok with a 12 volt PSU.
Door pillar contacts over time bend in very slightly causing one of the three contacts from the sliding door not to make a good connection when closed.
As a couple of amps have to flow to the solenoid it would not fully open.Thats the only problem I have had with a Vauxhall Combo van apart from a headlamp bulb blown over the years, will soon have the fun of changing the belts in a very tight engine area when the misses is out and not listerning in my workshop.

Thanks Whitevanman
Will have a go on the internet to see what mods were used but there seems to be a lack of information out there. Can dig out masses for my old BMW motorbike but not Vauxhall Combos?
If the door locks up again, willl have another look at the spring assisted contacts on the door instead of the pillar and move the whole unit out a fraction to take up the slack. I hope!
