ParticipantNot sure how the builder got his plumber to install the dishwasher in our current house, but each time I think it drains, its really noisy from the sink. I am guessing that its been connected to the sink fittings? if so, is this usual / standard or is there a better way to do this.
As we use the kitchen as a breakfast area and use it for evenings, when we’ve got our LCD on, when the dishwasher is on, its sooooo noisy.
wondering if there is a better option?

Yeah, drill a seprate hole through the wall and give it it’s own outlet pipe, just like plumbers used to before this quick fit stinky sink set up was introduced.
It’ll be more hygenic and not liable to grease blockages from the sink drain, and also much quieter.
Plumbers,don’t you just love em 😉November 3, 2009 at 1:09 am #302380gandh1

Not a fair comment – plumbers have as much in-depth understanding of appliances as we have of plumbing.

that was kinda my point. the quick-fit charge-lots brigade will always put a peatrap and spike under the sink instead of using a standpipe. even when the original plumbing already utilised a stand pipe… and inevitably those people are the same ones who fit the u bend directly infront of the inlet hose taps… or the taps hard up against the kitchen unit side…

As far a a separate stand pipe through the wall goes, I’m sure that the current regs do not allow you to do this and have the end of the standpipe discharge directly into an outside grid like you used to.
